**Blogging is mainstream?
57 million blogs as of October 2006
Some estimate that there is 100 million blogs
Doesn’t count many private blogs – friends, family, internal company or project blogs, blogs that the counters miss
**Reasons to blog
thinking outloud, conversation with friends
promotion of yourself or product
improve your writing, communication (e.g. blog as resume)
people can get to know you better.
media passes, journalism – Citizen journalism – nowpublic.org – associated press is now looking to them
CC licence – creative commons license – research into again. Update one on my site
Look into media passes for addiction conferences, music, poverty rallies etc.
**Blogging is easy and fun and cheap
-if you can write, you can blog
-If you can’t write, blogging is a great way to get better at it
Podcasting and videoblogging (youtube) are also options – GET famous! -

blogs are inclusive of myspace, livejournal, facebook, typepad, vox etc
How to get people to read your blog
-link to people
-commenting is the strongest way to gain readers – respond back
-relax it takes time
-include images, pics, graphics
-sitemap for search engines to read
