Apple is nice and a sneak peek at new art

I phoned Apple computer on Thursday evening and told them my story. I remained calm and didn’t get angry as getting angry doesn’t do a damn thing. I asked if I could exchange the 24″ iMac for the new 27″ iMac. The supervisor on the phone agreed with me and waived their 14 day return policy and gave me a special code. I do need to pay a 10% restocking fee and also pay to ship the 24″ iMac back to Ontario but in the end I am getting the 27″, 3,06Ghz, 1 terabyte hard drive iMac in return. And special thanks to my good friend Ian for visiting on Thursday night and helping me make my decision.

And the quality of this video isn’t my normal quality as I’m on a bit of a timeline crunch to get this computer packaged up and shipped back to them so that I do indeed get my refund.

Also, I’m working on two new illustrations; a school of swimming fish and a seahorse.

And I’m looking for two new tenants as two of my current tenants are leaving due to their work contracts being finished. I’m also toying with the idea of getting an actual roommate, someone who works from home to, as I have another secret room which could be used as a second studio, which I’ll blog about later.

    It’s so weird seeing you and hearing you talk. We missed each other by a few months. Good going for getting that new iMac. It sounds like a sweet deal. That iMac is 27″ and comparable to the 30″ Apple Cinema display. Obviously, the iMac is a lot cheaper and better value.

    LOL range! Yeah, I suppose it might be strange… as for the last 3 years I only wrote and posted images. I didn’t have video capability on my previous computer. I’m pretty happy to have it now though. I do need to buy a mini 4 pin to 6 pin firewire (dvi) cord then I’ll be able to use my Panasonic 3CCD as a webcam and hopefully record some video of myself drawing then speed it up and post it.

    I think in the end I’ll break even cost wise but will have a more advanced computer.

    Love the new illustrations!!

    I am glad that Apple is trying to make it right. That happened once to me when I bought a new car. Within a week there was a $1000more in rebates…the salesman could have told us to wait a week. My husband called and talked to someone. They ended up mailing us a check.

    I love your two new paintings. I have an affinity with the sea, living only metres from it, so their delicacy really speaks to me. Wonderful. Glad to hear apple are doing the right thing by you.

    Love the new illustrations! The fish school looks really cute, I can’t wait to see it in the shop!

    Good luck finding new tenants! The room looks lovely – I would totally move in (if it wasn’t that I am pretty stuck here with boyfriend and the two babies and the full-time university studies and stuff – LOL).

    I’m glad that everything worked out for you! I love Apple, and they are a great company. About 2 years ago, when I ordered my first iMac, and the next morning, I got an email informing me that they had upgraded me to the new iMac because it came out at midnight. I was thrilled, but I have to say a little disappointed that when I ordered that they didn’t tell me that the new one would be available the next day. I guess I lucked out.
    Can’t wait to see your new work!

    Yay for squeaky wheel getting the grease. Good on you to speak up and get you due as an avid Apple supporter. I had a similar tale with a TV from Panasonic, but in that case it was a 18 inches or so (1 pixel wide) worth of a fouled up plasma 18 months into ownership, Futureshop directed me to contact the company directly, and they were kind enough to replace the TV, I only had to pay the shipping (10% of the original retail price) which I was more than happy to do. I guess the moral of the story is, communicate dissatisfaction and you may be surprised when the Corporation aleves that feeling and repairs the rift. Congrats on your acquisition and future satisfaction. Yay sepia! *grin*
