UPDATE – Contest is closed. Winner of the calendar is Megan Warren! Thanks to everyone for the support this year.
This year I will be offering two coupons that can be used in my art shop and two giveaways for Black Friday.
I am 27 sales away from reaching 2000 sales and that in itself is pretty darn cool. Once 2000 sales are reached all customers will be entered into a draw for a $50.00 gift card to the shop.
Spend $100 or more and get 40% off with this code “BLACK40″, otherwise use this code, “BLACK25″ and get 25% off your purchase before shipping charges. This is a great way to get that original art you or a loved one has been eyeing.
And do leave a comment on this blog post telling me what your favourite piece of art is from my shop and I’ll enter you into a draw for one handmade by me 2013 wall calendar which is pictured below. You can buy one here too.
A few months ago I was contacted by a wonderful customer of mine whom asked if I would create a custom mat for her sisters wedding invitation. She gave me full creative liberties which is what I look for in a client these days.
I asked her for a few colours and a few images of what the wedding theme was and then went to town so to speak. The creative process follows with the final illustration above. You can click it to see more detail. Below is the beginning ink drawing rendered using Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens. I rarely if ever use pencil first and drawing directly with ink on paper.
Starting colour detail…
Adding in more colour detail using Prismacolor Verithin coloured pencils and placed a deep cream sheet of paper behind mat to represent invitation colour. I purchased the pre-cut archival while mat from Michaels Crafts.
The final size of the mat will fit a 5×7 inch invitation and fit into an 8×10 inch picture frame. I first met Elizabeth here in Saint John, NB last Summer while she was on a cruise vacation with her husband from Massachusetts, USA.
This set features four different illustrative owls and is the most recent collaboration between myself and Catherine Ivins.
This magnetic locket set can be purchased on Etsy. It ships directly from Catherine’s studio in the USA so that you are not paying double shipping costs. And if you live in the Saint John or surrounding area you can purchase one from me in person.
About a month ago Sander Blom (pictured above) of Fahrenheit Twins contacted me asking if I’d be interested in letting them use With Child on their new track, Mother’s Day. We traded.
It’s quite a lovely track if you ask me!
You can download the track for free from here.
Fahrenheit Twins are from the Netherlands.

I will be selling at the Annual Spring Qplex Stop & Shop in Quispamsis this Sunday, May 5th from 11:00 to 4:00.
This is my first showing of the 2013 Season! I have many new limited edition fine art prints, specially matted and framed items and greeting cards ready for the show.
If you can’t make it out to the Qplex I’ll have a booth at the Marco Polo Cruise Terminal in Saint John next weekend on May 11th. And don’t forget that Mother’s Day is next Sunday on the 12th.
I’m excited and will be hauling my 22 weeks pregnant belly to the show. Hope to see you there!
I finished this kitty cat art a couple of weeks ago.

Here is a shot of Little Orange in progress inside the handmade leather bound sketchbook that Chris purchased for me for Christmas last year.
And below are my three sleepy kitties from yesterday morning.
And these are my three sleepy kitties basking in the mid-morning morning sun from yesterday.
I drew this pretty pregnant woman when I was about 13 weeks pregnant and struggling to get over first trimester morning sickness, dizziness and low blood pressure and later coloured her by hand around 18 weeks pregnant when I was feeling much better.
The size of this print is 8.5 by 11 inches / 20,5cm by 28cm. With Child is a limited edition of 250 only and i chose to print her on a natural coloured acid and lignon free paper.
I don’t think you really know how bad you were feeling until you actually begin to feel better. I am 20 weeks pregnant today and my belly is growing and growing. I’m feeling pretty good though.
Chris and I decided to not find out the gender of the baby so it’ll be a surprise when he or she arrives in early September.
This is the original ink drawing before I began adding in the coloured pencil.
With Child will make a beautiful baby shower shower gift or gift to a newly pregnant woman. You can get one in my Etsy Shop.
