About once per season I run a lovely sale in the fine art shop.
Use coupon code “SPRING2011” for 25% OFF your total order during check-out.
This sale will run May 9th to May 14th in my Etsy Art Shop.
As wedding season approaches keep in mind that fine art does make a wonderful gift to those two special people who are tying the knot.
And the winner of the 2011 Desk Calendar is BevE from Ohio who left this comment.
I’ll be packaging your calendar today and shipping it out to you this afternoon.
I’ve reduced the 19 remaining 2011 desk calendars here in the studio to $14.00 from their original price of $18.00. I can not carry them over to next year folks. They can be purchased on Etsy in USD or on HandmadeCloud in CAD. Also, if you purchase $50.00 worth of art or other product from either of my shops I’ll include a free 2011 desk calendar with your order.
And to make things interesting for you… do leave a comment below to be entered into another draw for another 2011 desk calendar! I’ll announce the winner of this mini giveaway on Monday, January 31st. Please share this blog post with your friends. Happy Friday!

Thank you everyone!
Over the last few years I’ve realized one thing and that is that Canadian shipping costs are amongst some of the highest in the world. Canada Post is a crown corporation and not subsidized by our government.
There is nothing that I can do about our shipping charges except that of learning everything there is to know about them.
And as such, after a good talk last week with the clerk at the Post Office I realized that I’m able to charge a little less than what I have been charging. It wasn’t that I was charging too much… by any measure my shipping charges were reasonable by Canadian standards. But seeing as the majority of art that I sell travels south of the border into a country with some of the cheapest shipping rates in the world, I really needed to rethink and figure out a better shipping system that is more inline with what Americans are charging.

Congratulations Cathy and thanks so much to everyone who entered and for sharing what you were thankful for in 2009 with me. There were a record breaking 210 comments and 47 Tweets on the post!
I am in the process of writing my 2010 goals and will share them with you as I did with my 2009 goals all tomorrow!

I’ll be packaging Set It Free over the next couple of days and shipping it out to you by the weekend. I hope you enjoy the print!
Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts on what you would like set free with me. They made me smile in knowing that we are not all that different, in that we do share many common worries, fears and hopes for today, the past and our futures.
Many people hold a regular job and create art or craft as their hobby. I am quite the opposite in choosing art as my career and conversely, research both vintage and antique items to sell online as my hobby. Well over a year ago I secretly opened a second shop, OLDisNEW. I sell books, paper, trinkets, collectibles and oddities from years gone by.
I’ve learned that a 1940′s Gillete Rocket Razor has much more value than WWII meat ration tokens as a collector’s item but that the reverse is true when it’s sold as an art supply.
And to quote the OLDisNEW shop announcement:
My family has lived in Eastern Canada for six generations. We have a lot of old things. I hope you find something you like and enjoy it as much as we have!.
Weekly, I’ll be featuring an item from the vintage shop here on the blog to break things up from the routine of posting art.
And soon I’ll be posting garden updates (my second hobby) as Spring continues to progress nicely along in this part of the world… Oh bring it on Baby!
A couple of weeks ago Cat AKA Polarity a fantastic jewelry artist on Etsy contacted me to collaborate on a new line of recycled artist lockets she was introducing into her shop. This is the result of that collaboration!
Wow! Thank you to all of you for entering. I’m overwhelmed by the sheer number of entries in a most gracious and humble way.
I’m excited to announce that the winners as generated from Random.org are:
