Isn’t she the most insane floating snail you’ve ever seen only in your dreams! I thoroughly enjoyed creating this piece. She measures 10 by 10 inches (30,5cm by 30,5cm).
The Messenger of Whimsy was created with Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens, Micron Pens, Prismacolor coloured Pencils and Winsor and Newton watercolour on Arches cold press rough watercolour paper. Continue reading
Size – 2.5 by 3.5 inches (6,4cm by 8,9cm)
Don’t let the small size fool you… An *ACEO looks wonderful matted into an 8×10 inch standard sized frame.
*An ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals. They are collected worldwide and are the exact same size as a Magic or Hockey trading card.
Listed for sale on HandmadeCloud.
UPDATE – At the request of a few customers this illustration is now listed as a limited edition mini print!
Back in 1993 I drew this whimsical alphabet poster on bristol board. Sadly, I didn’t know about using archival inks or paper for that matter back then. And had a tendency to illustrate right to the edge of the paper I was drawing upon. The black ink I had drawn around each letter had faded off over the last 16 years. At least I was smart enough to use Prismacolor colored pencils to colour it with.
I spent most of last week re-tracing the black outlines in india ink that surrounded each letter and then after scanning the entire piece into Adobe Photoshop, touched it up fixing any tears and rebuilding missing black outlines. Below are the before (showing the new india ink outlines but before the touch-up in photoshop) and the after shot.
It’s vivid and beautiful now featuring both an upper and lower case alphabet.
This is a limited edition print run of 100 only. Each print is signed, numbered and titled on the front by me and dated on the back. It will arrive with a certificate of authenticity. Each print is professionally printed on an Epson R2880 using pigmented archival inks on premium matte paper.
The paper size is 11 x 14 inches (28cm by 35,5cm) and it has a border surrounding the image making it easy to frame and or mat. The side borders are a little wider than the top and bottom margins as shown in the opening image.
It would make a lovely addition to any child’s bedroom or classroom. Hope you like it! And it’s available in my art shop.
I created Emily with india ink, watercolour and pilot pens on acid free card stock. The original measures 3.5 by 2.5 inches and is for sale at the Klausen Gallery. Prints are available in my shop from mini print size up to 11 by 8.5 inch size.
And this is Emily’s big brother, Milton the fish. Milton made the front page a few weeks ago. Thank you Organikx for curating a wonderful treasury.
A treasury can be curated by any registered member of the Etsy community. Both buyers and sellers can curate. The Etsy Administration picks one treasury out of hundreds to be featured on the front page usually once per hour per day. On average there are 18 to 24 treasuries featured on the front page everyday each containing 12 items with 3 items in reserve if one or more of those featured 12 sell while on the front page. In total there are a possible 288 slots per day.
This week I introduced matting and backing into the shop for the 5×7 inch print size. They look pretty good. More sizes will follow as the month progresses.
Here fishie fishie!

I’ll be drawing the winner and contacting them tonight.
This week I am giving away…
Mother Goose is Loose Creating Fairytales Everywhere!
Last time I gave away a Four Seasons Print.
The rules are simple
Leave your name, blog address (if you have one), and email (which I will not share) and comment on this post once only please. Next Tuesday I will randomly draw one name from the comments and mail you Mother Goose is Loose.
About Mother Goose is Loose
This print that I am giving away is a second. I had been wondering what to do with the beautiful reproductions that print out crooked, are a tad to bright or too dark, or I goofed up on cutting to small. Needless to say they exist in my studio. And I don’t believe in throwing them away. There is nothing wrong with these prints, except that they are seconds and don’t meet the standard I have in place for retailing at the regular price. Just as a potter has seconds so to does an artist. In the Fall I’ll be listing seconds for sale in my shop. Keep an eye out for those listings.
The print you will receive measures 7 3/8 by 7 3/8 inches rather than the 8×8 inch version I sell. The printed image size is 7×7 inches (same as the one I sell) and the color quality is identical. I will sign and date the back of this print and mark it as a second. Sooooo….
What if I WIN?
On that note, if you win I will contact you by the secret email you left here. I will need you to email me back with your accurate physical mailing address that will never be shared. I will ship worldwide for free! I’ll announce the winner publicly next Monday. Comments will close Monday, June 30, 2008 at 12:00AM AST.
… and What if I Don’t Win?
And if you don’t win the print, it is available for purchase in my Art shop.
