Ingrid the Owl – The process of drawing her and she’s a newly listed print on Etsy

owl art, wall decor, jessica doyle , baby shower gift, limited edition print,

I drew Ingrid using Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens and Prismacolor Verithin Coloured Pencils inside a handbound leather journal. The original drawing measures 9 by 9 inches and the final limited edition print measures 8.5 by 11 inches. This size print is easy to mat and frame and hang on your wall. A pre-cut 11 by 14 inch mat with an opening cut for an 8 by 10 inch will fit this print perfectly. Then just slip it into your favourite 11 by 14 inch picture frame.

I began by drawing Ingrid using Faber Castell Pitt Artist pens. I use all their nib sizes when drawing. After the ink work is completed I begin adding the coloured pencil.

Adding in more coloured pencil to achieve some depth and highlights. I really enjoy using Prismacolor Verithin coloured pencils over any other Prismacolor or other brand because the lead stay sharp and are extra hard allowing you to shade those tiny places without the worry of your lead softening or breaking for that matter.

She’d make a mighty fine baby shower gift or a hooting happy gift for the owl lover in your life. She is Listed for sale here in my Etsy Shop. I ship internationally too.

Customer Appreciation Photo – Bree’s post office

A few days ago, good friend and Massage Therapist from Portland, Oregon, Andrew Jecklin sent me this photo of his daughter’s play Post Office. She uses the little miniature greeting cards and envelopes that I create from scratch as part of her mail delivery system. Kids love these little cards!

There are now 10 different sets of greeting cards listed in the shop now to choose from.

And just for size reference, they are tiny!

Thanks Andrew for sending me this photo!

Series of Greeting Cards – A Little Something

The flowers are just beginning to show themselves here popping up through the ground in the port city of Saint John. For me this is generally a very happy time of year where most of the drawings and illustrations that I completed during Wintertime are scanned and turned into prints and paper goods.

Missy Two Shoes can haz Christmas

It’s so funny how cats can and do create little nests for themselves anywhere and everywhere. And come Christmas time when the boxes and bags of decorations come out they will indeed find happiness within the gold, red and green decorations.

Oddly enough she let me tie a bow around her neck and didn’t even try to take it off. I did remove the bow before turning in for bed yesterday as I was worried she would hang herself or something… if it got caught on a something you know…

And yes she has regained the use of blinking her right eye after that nasty cat punctured her head. Thus far that muti-coloured feline has not turned up on the backyard deck again.

Martha the Elephant – Illustration

Elephant art by Jessica Doyle

I drew her with Pilot G-tec C4 pens, Pilot Hi-tec C pens, Pilot opaque white ink, water and Prismacolor Verithin colored pencils on 8.5 by 11 inch (21,6cm by 27,9cm) smooth white paper.

I should add that this illustration was inspired by Christopher Dewan of The Urban Sherpa. He’s beginning an online literary magazine called 3 Blind Elephants and is accepting submissions.

8×10 inch Archival prints of Martha the Elephant are available for purchase in the shop.
